Marathon 13.1® Ft. Lauderdale is WALKER FRIENDLY.  The course will remain open for 3 hours and 30 minutes (16 minute/mile pace).

Course Map

Course Description (subject to change):
Ft. Lauderdale will offer an amazing sunrise on a scenic and friendly course. Start near Port Everglades and the Broward Convention Center on 17th Street and head west (no need to go over the bridge here!) towards US 1/Federal Highway. The course will take you under the New River through a tunnel to make a right on Broward Blvd. At 16th Avenue, under the shade of trees, racers will get on to Las Olas Boulevard, the famous stretch of galleries, cafes and shops that make Downtown Ft. Lauderdale a pedestrian friendly city. As the sun rises and the waves roll in, participants will head north on A1A Boulevard, home to Ft. Lauderdale's new 4 and 5 star resort hotels and the lively atmosphere of bars and restaurants that line the beach. The course continues north towards 40th Street for the turnaround and comes back down A1A where locals and hotel visitors will cheer on runners. The race will finish at South Beach Park at the south end of A1A, a beautiful sandy beach and home to the finish line where athletes will get their 13.1 finisher medals, high fives from friends and family and celebrate their accomplishment.

Average temperature:
The middle of November means the beginning of dry season as South Florida cold fronts come in and temperatures remain moderate, occasionally dropping into the 50’s (Nov. 16, 2007 had race conditions of 55 degrees!). Generally, race day temps average in the low to mid-70’s, providing 13.1™ Ft. Lauderdale runners with a friendly climate for a run.

Medical
Medical support during the 13.1 Marathon Ft. Lauderdale will be provided by health care professionals. A fully-equipped medical facility will be located near the finish line. Participants requiring medical assistance may be transported to one of the nearby hospitals, and will be billed by the hospital and ambulance provider. Participants must give on-scene medical personnel the freedom to determine which facility will be utilized.

IMPORTANT:
Each participant must complete the medical information form on the back of your bib number. Please take time to fill out your medical information and provide emergency contact information. This will make your important health care information available to health care professionals in the event you are unable to communicate with them.

Mile Markers & Split Times

Each mile marker will have a large display clock that will indicate the running time of the event. These display clocks will show the time from the official start of the race, not your personal “tag time”.

Course Entertainment

The 13.1 Marathon Ft. Lauderdale course features more than 15 entertainment groups ranging from spirit squads, school bands, and local bands.

Water and Gatorade Aid Stations
There will be water and Gatorade (Gatorade Endurance Formula) stations along the course and at the start/finish. All Aid Stations on the course will have portable toilets located nearby

Restroom Facilities

•    Partial lane closures will be utilized.  Please stay inside the cones and obey all public safety officers and course marshals.
